Locust Light Farm offers private yoga classes taught by Amanda Midkiff. Amanda received her 200 hr certification in 2012 from Quiet Heart Yoga in Allentown, PA. She was trained in the Himalayan tradition of Raja Yoga. Amanda's classes combine postures, stretching, breathing and relaxation techniques to achieve a deep and fulfilling meditation. Private classes offer an individual a chance to use these techniques to move forward with wellness goals.Students will gain an understanding of the chakra system, the energy body and how to grow into their true selves. Private classes are perfect for those new to yoga; those with special health needs; or those who wish to focus on specific areas of growth.
What is Raja Yoga?
Raja yoga is a classical style of yoga that incorporates physical movement with mindfulness and breathing techniques to prepare oneself for a deep meditation. Raja yoga also incorporates a study of yoga philosophy. Students learn to put yoga philosophy into practice on the mat through movement and breathing, which prepares them to bring yoga into every day life. Students will learn to be more free from daily causes of frustration and stress, more loving toward themselves and others, and more at peace in the present moment. Raja yoga is based in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and the mystic teachings of the Upanishads.
What will a private class consist of?
Classes are customized to the student's wellness goals. Each class will involve postures, breathing practices, relaxation, and a meditation. The specific postures will be designed to suit the student's abilities and interests. Amanda greatly enjoys teaching students more deeply about the energy body and using yoga philosophy to navigate life's challenges. This can be an integral part of bringing yoga into daily life. Students can explore these topics if desired for a more fulfilling practice.
How much do classes cost?
Classes can be held in the student's home or at The Barn at Gravity Hill. Cost: $65/one hour class
